Free Financial Advice

July 7, 2011

Money is something that many people worry about, and most couples fight over. When it comes to our money, the Lord certainly calls us to be good stewards of it. But he doesn’t want it to be a source of anxiety or conflict.

Just consider what Jesus told his apostles in today’s gospel. He instructed them to:

  1. Travel lightly;
  2. Live simply;
  3. Trust that the Lord would provide; and
  4. Be concerned, not about money, but with doing the Lord’s work.

This was his commandment to his apostles. And it’s his good advice for us.

  1. Mary W says:

    Years ago, after my husband got layed off I stenciled the Workds “The Lord Supplies” over our front door to remind us everytime we went out the door who was in charge of it all. Through the grace of God we have managed to keep the house, feed the kids, pay tuition, and take an occasional vacation. Our mutual trust in God’s providence has paid even richer dividends, after 33 years of marraige God has blessed us with a deep and lasting love for each other and harmony in our family.

  2. Mary W- God bless you and your husband for your faith during difficult times. Thank you for sharing your testimony with us.

    Peace,

    Fr. Scott

  3. Vijaya says:

    I esp. needed to read this as there are a lot of unknowns in the move we’re facing. The Lord has always provided for us, and I trust He will continue to do so.

  4. Fr. Scott Hurd says:

    Dear Vijaya- May God help you persever in faith as you move into the unknown.

    Peace,

    Fr. Scott
